As you’ve probably noticed already (if you’re a regular reader) I’ve been making some changes at John’s Tech Blog. We’re using a new theme to try to bring the site more in line with Web 2.0 type designs and this started me thinking about other Web 2.0 sites and how I could better integrate with them.
One of the big sites in the blogging world is Technorati, so I made this the focus and started preparing my blog to be more “Technorati Friendly”.
The first thing that I did was to add Technorati tags alongside my WordPress tags for every post. This makes it easier for me readers to find related content on Technorati if I’ve written about something that interests them.
The second thing that I did was to add a “Fave this Blog” icon at the top right of the page which people can click on to tell other Technorati readers that they like my blog. This got me thinking…..
Competition Time!
I’ve decided to offer a free 125×125 ad for a whole month on my site to someone who “faves” my blog! All you have to do is to follow these simple steps:
- Signup with Technorati if you don’t already have an account at http://technorati.com/account/signup/, or login via the same link.
- Once you’ve done that, come back here and click on the “Fave This Blog” icon on the top-right of this page.
- Sit and wait!
The competition is open until Friday 19th December 2008, and I’ll be announcing the winner no later than the 31st. The winner will be chosen at random from all the ‘Fans’ that are showing on my Technorati account. The winners ad will be shown throughout January 2009, or from whenever it reaches me until the end of January – so make sure you have an ad prepared! 
Please note that I can’t be held responsible for any glitches in the Technorati system, so I’d advise you to do this sooner rather than later to give it time to show up on my stats.
