Regular vistors to John’s Tech Blog will no doubt notice a change in layout today! I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time now so decided it was finally time to just do it!
I started out with a WordPress theme and then customised it to fit more in line with my color scheme and overall site design. I also gave the header a subtle makeover as it was starting to look a bit bland.
Please use the comments on this post to give me feedback. I’m always interested in reading other people’s points of view!

Personally I don’t like the header.. Looks to cheesy and cheap and reminds me to the 80′s adverts.. A little lighter blue and more padding would be nice on the titles.. And while I’m typing change the color of text within input fields to white or lighter because black on dark gray is hard..
Well those are quick thoughts about the new design..
Might be a little hard but I said what I think although I am not a designer

Yeah no problem.. You said u want feedback and I gave you feedback… An honest feedback which is I hope you wanted.. Not just that bullshit like “OMG this new design is absolutely fantastic!” and that sort of comments.. So I see some of the improvements but man u have to rid of that bevel from the title and maybe even shadow… The rest of design looks fine.. Maybe just a little more padding in the titles from the top and bottom… Ahhhh… I’ll stop now

Overall, I like the look. One thing to remember though is that when you use a dark background like this you need high contrast text or it’s really hard for some people to read when it doesn’t contrast enough.
Your header is OK — it’s nothing I would get excited about, but you’re the site owner, so it SHOULD please you more than anyone.
I do like the gradients on the sidebar titles — very nice and web 2.0. looking.

Yeah the header looks better and I do agree with Margaret… You are the owner so it really should please you.. I just dropped a feedback from my stand point.. Keep up the good job…

Margaret – I like the slightly grey text at the moment, but am open to pressure on this from other readers! If I get more than 10 comments on it, I’ll change the text to white!

John — maybe the text doesn’t have to be fff, but you could go with the same shade you’ve used on your navigation buttons as that’s a higher contrast but still isn’t stark white. This shade of grey is just a tad darker than is comfortable for old eyes like mine
